Real Madrid’s start to the league has been extraordinary. The Whites have won all three games averaging more than three goals per game (eleven strikes in three matches). Pellegrini’s men showcase tremendous offensive power and top the table due to their favourable goal difference over Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao.
Real Madrid jumped to the first spot of the table in Matchday 3 after netting five strikes against Xerez and becoming the tournament's top-scoring team. In the two previous games, the Whites had scored three goals apiece against Deportivo La Coruña and Espanyol. Also bearing in mind the five goals scored in Zurich, it seems like this team is capable of breaking every record.
On top of that, every member of the squad is committed to the project and Pellegrini’s rotations system is working perfectly well. In fact, up to seven Madridistas have tallied goals this season. Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul, Lass, Granero, Guti, Benzema and Van Nistelrooy have netted at least one strike each.
One has to look back 22 years to find such a brilliant starting run for the Whites. The 1987/88 season squad featured the likes of Butragueño, Hugo Sanchez and Michel, and they ended up conquering their third consecutive league title much to the delight of the fans. Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul, Kaka and Guti are on the right track to repeating such feat.
