Buffon: «In Genova we must leave a sign»

Gigi Buffon has had a start to the season which is fitting for a number one. The super-keeper of Juventus has started-off in the role of absolute protagonist. With his saves, some of which really incredible, he contributed to the victories of Juventus (four in five matches) and of the national team (two out of two in the World Cup qualifiers).
Buffon remained in Turin to continue winning and his super-saves have helped Ciro Ferrara’s team start-off in the best of manners. Two days after the victory against Livorno – a sort of derby for a Tuscan like himself -, next comes the match against Genoa, a team for which he has never hidden a certain soft spot.
It will be a difficult match, which Gigi presented on his official website «On Thursday an important match awaits us, not so much for the points in question, because we are still at the start of the season, but because it will have to be a sign for us. In Genova we will have to give a convincing performance and win to increase further our self-esteem and the belief in our means».
As part of the series “winning aids winning”, Juventus will try to register their fifth consecutive victory in the championship. After the two victorious away matches in Rome, the fixtures present the bianconeri with another tricky away match. This is due to the value of Gasperini’s team but not only: «Genoa is an excellent team and is very fearsome, especially when it plays at home because it plays in a fantastic stadium and has a warm public capable of pushing the players of playing a heartfelt match overcoming all obstacles. The surrounding environment could be an additional problem for us which we must try to overcome thanks to our greater experience in European football. We mus therefore be clever and not be intimidated by the warmth of their supporters».
It will be another high level match after the one away to Lazio last week. This time it will not be a real leadership clash after the defeat suffered by the rossoblu in Verona. It was a surprising result but only up to a certain extent. Buffon concluded: «We will be playing against a team which is fresh from its first defeat in the championship. Chievo played a great match against Lazio and did not deserve to win and even against us in the first match day it did well».
